Position: Property Accountant
Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyze all general ledger accounts to determine necessary accruals or other adjusting journal entries. Research account activity as needed.
- Prepare and record journal entries for revenues, banking activity, monthly accruals and other property activity.
- Prepare bank reconciliations.
- Prepare and maintain supporting schedules for balance sheet accounts such as inter-company balances, accounts receivable, prepaid rent, accounts payable, loans payable, and accrued property expenses.
- Prepare reconciliations for balance sheet accounts.
- Prepare calculations of cash available for distribution or cash shortfall.
- Track required payments and ensure items are paid timely (e.g. taxes, insurance, debt service, distributions).
- May include various aspects of accounts payable (entering invoices, preparing checks, etc.).
- Compile monthly reporting package.
- Assist with preparation of supporting materials for audit and tax return process, and any other requests as needed.
- Assist with recording of property-related transactions such as purchase/sale or refinancing.
- Assist in due diligence efforts as needed.
- Assist with special projects as needed.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives that support the growth strategy, strong system of internal controls and operational excellence.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required, Master's preferred.
- Relevant property accounting in multi-housing
- Yardi Voyager experience required
