Oliver James are working with a global non-life insurer on a newly created role within their Underwriting Function. I am keen to speak with senior non-life Underwriters to join an exceptional organisation with a progressive attitude towards the insurance industry.
The key responsibilities for the position will centre around;
- Ensure business is underwritten using sound judgement, expertise and in compliance with underwriting policy and guidelines.
- Monitor the performance of assigned portfolios to ensure profitability, balance, and compliance with underwriting standards.
- Stay abreast of industry developments, regulatory changes, and market trends to maintain competitive advantage and identify growth opportunities.
- Contribute to the general management and development of the underwriting function
- Manage projects in developing and implementing new processes and procedures for underwriting.
- Design products in accordance with the Company's Product Oversight and Governance Policy.
- Design and produce insightful, accurate and detailed management information.
- Prepare and report the results of underwriting performance and critical issues to the underwriting committee.
- Identify, assess, understand and monitor underwriting risks, including global catastrophes and major risk losses that might affect the company.
- Design of limits, standards, guidelines, within the agreed risk appetite for use by MGAs;
- Monitor delivery of underwriting activities by MGAs in accordance with agreed standards, guidelines, key performance indicators and within the agreed risk appetite.
The successful Candid will have a minimum of 9+ years of General Insurance Underwriting ideally from the general liability markets with a focus on professional liability/indemnity, pan European experience would be advantageous
- Demonstrableate experience in writing and executing underwriting business plans.
- Strong analytic skills and numerical aptitude.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, together with the ability to work well in a small team environment
