About the Firm:
Our client is a dynamic and growing private equity firm, currently raising their second fund and poised for significant growth. Based in Boston, the firm is seeking a talented and motivated Accounting Manager to join their expanding team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping the accounting and finance function as the firm grows its portfolio.
Position Overview:
The Accounting Manager will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the firm's accounting, including fund accounting, financial reporting, and audit management. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in asset management, fund administration, or audit with a desire to build and lead a team as the firm scales.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day accounting operations for the firm's private equity funds.
- Manage financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
- Lead the preparation of fund-level financial statements in accordance with GAAP and oversee the year-end audit process.
- Collaborate with the CFO on strategic financial initiatives, including budgeting, forecasting, and investor reporting.
- Establish and implement accounting policies and procedures to ensure the firm's financial processes are scalable and efficient.
- Oversee fund administrator financial reporting including capital calls, waterfalls, and management fees
- Build and mentor a team of fund accountants to support the firm's growing operations.
- Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and fund administrators.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 5-7 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on asset management, fund administration, or audit (public or private equity experience preferred).
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, particularly in relation to fund accounting and financial reporting.
- Experience managing audits and working with external auditors.
- Excellent leadership and team-building skills.
- Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Preferred Experience:
- CPA designation or MBA preferred.
- Previous experience working in a private equity, venture capital, or asset management firm.
- Experience with fund administration and managing relationships with third-party service providers.
