Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily construction of forward curves for a wide range of power futures contracts.
  • Improve futures pricing methodologies by conducting fundamental analysis of underlying physical markets.
  • Analyze large datasets (millions of rows), generate reports for senior management, and develop tools to automate workflows.
  • Conduct research by synthesizing data from internal sources, model outputs, market/industry data, and research reports to monitor the competitive landscape and support the development of new power contracts and services.
  • Develop and evaluate risk management strategies for customer portfolios, including pricing and risk models for existing and new power derivative contracts.
  • Handle inquiries from internal stakeholders (senior management and the Board) and external parties (customers and regulators) regarding exchange operations.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will have exceptional attention to detail combined with the ability to identify broader trends and business logic to support business development and risk management efforts for the Exchange and the clearinghouse. Given the data-driven nature of our business, strong analytical and quantitative skills are essential. A deep understanding of power markets, including financial transmission rights (FTR), power spot market, and power derivatives market, is required. Prior experience in financial risk management is advantageous.

Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise:

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in quantitative finance, economics, statistics, applied mathematics, engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with Power Flow Models is a MUST
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in quantitative analytical roles, preferably within financial services.
  • At least 3 years of experience in power markets, particularly in power spot market and FTR market analysis.
  • Exceptional quantitative skills.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or R (at least one required).
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • High attention to detail.

Preferred:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on power systems.
  • Experience in power flow modeling and power grid analysis.
