About the role:
We are looking for a highly skilled Network Engineer to join the team of our client. You will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation and continuous improvement of the IT infrastructure, focusing on network-related projects and day-to-day operational management.
What will your mission be?
As a Network Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
- Designing and managing network-related projects.
- Overseeing the operational management of the IT infrastructure (WAN, LAN, WLAN, offices, data centers, VPN, DNS, firewalls, etc.).
- Managing second and third line support tickets and resolving incidents.
- Proposing improvements on network and security levels.
- Ensuring the infrastructure adheres to governance and standards.
- Contributing to the Change Management process.
- Validating infrastructure deliverables in projects and ensuring they meet company standards.
- Managing third-party vendors and deployments, ensuring smooth transitions without impacting operations.
- Creating and maintaining up-to-date documentation (migration plans, test plans, troubleshooting reports).
- Supporting first-line inquiries and providing second-line support.
- Participating in the writing of RFI/RFPs.
Skills & Knowledge:
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A bachelor's or master's degree in a technology-related field (e.g., Engineering, Computer Software) or equivalent work experience.
- At least 7 years of experience in IT, with 5+ years focused on networking and security.
- Expertise in the following areas:
- MPLS technology (IGP/LDP/MP-BGP, L2VPN, L3VPN)
- LAN/MAN/WAN technologies, TCP/IP, Ethernet, and architectures (Layered model, Spanning-tree, multicast, QOS, VRF, HSRP)
- Routing (static, BGP, OSPF, redistribution), with thorough BGP knowledge
- End-to-end QOS for business applications and real-time streams (voice, video)
- Firewall technologies (Checkpoint, Palo Alto, Cisco ASA) and network segregation (DMZ, ICS perimeters)
- Tunneling (GRE, IPSEC), DC LAN technology, DNS, Proxy/Zscaler/ZPA
- Radius/NAC/SSLVPN, Reverse Proxy/Load balancing
- Experience with Splunk, Skybox, Cisco ISE, PRTG, Visio
- Strong troubleshooting skills and a deep understanding of IT processes and operational procedures.
- AWS network and security components.
- Experience with SDWAN/SASE is a plus.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills in English and one national language (French or Dutch).
