Job Title: Controller
Position Summary: Our client is seeking a talented, experienced Controller to come in and own the accounting and finance function for a mid-sized insurance carrier. This role includes responsibilities across operational accounting, financial reporting, FP&A, and capital management. Ideal candidate comes with Statutory accounting experience in the insurance sector.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee quarterly and annual financial reporting process, staying up to date on latest regulatory guidance
- Lead annual budgeting and forecasting to support strategic decision making across the organization
- Supervise month-end close, including internal management reporting
- Own internal controls, identifying areas for process improvement
- Liaise with external auditors and state regulators as required
- Train, up skill and mentor financial accounting staff
Requirements:
- 5+ years experience in accounting or financial reporting role within the insurance industry
- Active CPA designation
- Experience with US GAAP
- Experience with Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP)
