Our client, an technology enabled and private equity backed MGU established in 2018, has experienced exceptional growth over the past four years. With a quadrupled total premium, exponentially increased net assets, and expanding market share, they are now in search of a CFO to spearhead their finance function.
The CFO role at this firm is a unique opportunity for a highly entrepreneurial individual to shape the finance department, drive significant growth, and play a vital role within the management team. As the company grows rapidly, finding a candidate eager to contribute at the ground level is crucial.Initially, the CFO will establish the finance function from scratch, including setting up a general ledger, preparing financial statements, and creating management packs. The role will then progress to encompass forward-thinking analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and treasury management. In the final stage, the focus will shift towards strategy development, financial leadership, and M&A activities.
This is a remote CFO position. Compensation ranges from 200-300k base salary with bonus potential.
The initial responsibilities include:-
- Leading the accounting team
- Preparing the financial statements - US GAAP
- Preparing the tax compliance documents
- Building out the financial control environment
- Developing accounting policies and procedures
- Oversee stop loss accounting
- Asses collateral requirements
- Investment accounting and reporting
- Hiring and developing a team of finance professionals
- Working with Executive Leadership on the strategy of the company
Mandatory experience required:
- Proven experience as a Finance Leader (CFO, CAO, Controller or Similar)
- Insurance industry experience - this could be within a P&C, insurance intermediary or MGU firm.
- CPA, MBA or similar will be highly regarded
- Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting or similar
- Experience in a rapidly growing insurance company
- Strong leadership capabilities and willingness to be hands on driving execution and change where needed
- Financial system implementation experience
- Highly motivated and takes pride in their work and has a conscientious and diligent work ethic
- Proficient in the use of financial management software
- Ability to strategize and solve problems.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and people skills.
- An analytical mind, comfortable with numbers.
